SURGOINSVILLE-Clara Lissie Mauk, age 95, Surgoinsville died Monday, November 15, 2004 at Church Hill Healthcare following an extended illness.

She was a lifelong resident of Surgoinsville.

She attended Liberty Baptist Church, Carter's Valley.

She was preceded in death by her husband, G.O. (Oak) Mauk; parents, James Anderson and Mary Jane Vaughn Anderson; and 13 sisters and brothers.

She is survived by a great niece, Alice Faye Greer and husband, Herman, Surgoinsville; a great nephew, Virgil Mauk and wife, Madelyn, Surgoinsville; a great nice Pamela Dutton and husband, David, and their two sons Brandon and Randall Dutton, Kingsport; a sister-in-law, Ida Mauk; and several nieces and nephews and other family members.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 17, 2004 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Church Hill. Friends may also call anytime at the residence of Alice Greer, 1433 Carter's Valley Road, Surgoinsville.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, November 18, 2004 at Cold Springs Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. J. E. Mauk and Brother Rick Vannoy officiating. She will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Looney's Cemetery, Surgoinsville. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
