Richard was born Dec. 3,1924 in Dennison, Ohio to the late Charles and Margaret (Whalen) Striker. He passed away at his home October 30, 2014 after a battle with cancer. He moved to Norwalk, Ohio in 1956. Richard went to work as a Norwalk Policeman in 1962 and transferred to the Norwalk Fire Department in 1970 where he retired in 1988.
In 1983 Richard was the winner of The Ohio Fire Service Valor Award for leading a prisoner out of the burning Norwalk Police Department jail and to safety.
He is survived by his wife, Dottie (Varney)Striker, a son Douglas (wife Brenda)Striker and a daughter Lelah(husband Jim) Weidinger both of Norwalk, Ohio.
Richard was preceded in death by his first wife Mary Jean (Taylor) Striker and his second wife Carrie (Taylor) Striker, a son Richard Allen Striker, a stepson Michael Frazier, his brothers Charles, David, James, and Blaine Striker, and by his sisters Margaret Parrish, Anna Marie Bonifont, Shirley Jean Striker.
