Susan was born to Jesse William and Elizabeth Layall Appling. She married Lewis T Appling 11/2/1837 in Tuscaloosa, AL. She was the mother of Elizabeth Frances Stanley (1842-1927) who married John Holt Cuummins (1829-1922). Susan was also the mother of Sasannah, Lucius (1846-1849) Louis Samuel (1849-) and William (1850-) All died young and most likely buried here also.
After Susan's death Lewis married Susannah Frances Chappell.
