Chiles, Dorice Raymond, on Wednesday, November 12, 2014. Beloved husband to Thelma Edith Ritchey from December 1945 until her death on November 9, 1997 and to Opal L. Freeze from April 1, 1998 until her death on July 1, 2012. Loving father to Jerry Raymond Chiles, Steve Benjamin Chiles, and Catherine Lucinda Chiles Pitman. Dear grandfather to Jennifer Chiles, Jonathan Chiles, Samantha Chiles Roy, Aaron Montgomery, Lucinda Montgomery Baumgardner and the late Jerry Chiles, Jr. and great-grandfather to Abigail Wilson, Bailey Wilson, Amelia Chiles, Noah Chiles, Michael Roy, III, Adric Montgomery, Ada Montgomery, Madden Baumgardner, and Finnegan Baumgardner; He has many nieces and nephews in the St. Louis and Southeast Missouri area. He is the last of 9 siblings. Dear father-in-law to Robert Lee Montgomery (formerly married to Cathy), Michael Pitman (currently married to Cathy), and Sharon Boles Chiles (Married to Jerry). He loved buying and selling cars, his dogs Buddy and Big Lucy, working outside cutting grass, chopping firewood, burning trash, tinkering in his shop. While living in South St. Louis, he loved to visit “The Country” around Piedmont and Williamsville to spend time with family and friends. Ray worked several jobs, including an appliance factory, a biscuit factory and maintenance man at a sign company. Ray served during WWII in the U.S. Army as a Private First Class. In His younger years he was very close to his siblings. When Ray would get a job, he would call his brothers to let them know that he could get them a job at the same company.
Visitation Tuesday, November 18, from 9am until time of funeral service at 10am at Bopp Chapel, 10610 Manchester Rd., Kirkwood, MO 63122. Interment 2pm Tuesday at New Liberty Cemetery in Piedmont, MO.
