Aquila A. Moody, 86, of 370 Summit St., a heating contractor for more than 50 years, died unexpectedly Monday. Mr. Moody was born at Pittsfield, May 23, 1881, the son of William and Mary Moody. He was the widower of Lucinda A. Irish Moody.

Educated in Pittsfield and Hartland schools, he came to Portland as a young man. He retired in 1960. Mr. Moody was a member of Stevens Avenue Congregational Church and a charter member of Cornerstone Lodge, AF and AM, and a member of Mount Sinai Chapter, RAM. He was a 32nd Degree Mason in the Maine Consistory and a member of Cornerstone Chapter, OES.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Lawrence (Doris) Rolfe of Portland and Mrs. Philip (Orra) Stultz of Westbrook; two sons, Vernon E. and Alton E., both of Portland and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at 199 Woodford St. The Rev. William F. Hamel, pastor of the Stevens Avenue Congregational Church will officiate. Interment will be in Brooklawn Memorial Park.
