Avalon Former councilman

Carl P. Beisecker, a former North Hills school board member and a former Avalon councilman, died Tuesday, April 25, 1995. He was 87.

Mr. Beisecker was a project auditor for H.J. Heinz Co., retiring in 1972 after 47 years with the company. Active in the Avalon community for many years, he served as a councilman for the 2nd Ward from 1986 to 1989, as tax collector in 1989 and on the North Hills School District Board of Education from 1955 to 1973, serving as a past president. He was a board member and past president of the Northern Area Special Schools and the Lutheran Service Society. He served on the advisory committee of Older Adult Service and Information System (OASIS), and was a board member of WQED-TV and the Allegheny Intermediate Unit. He also was active in the United Way and was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Avalon. In 1972, he received the North Hills Jaycees first Distinguished Service Award.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth B. Beisecker, two sons, Donald P. Beisecker of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Robert W. Beisecker of LouisviDe, Ky.; one brother, Lewis Beisecker of Akron, Ohio; one sister, Margaret Beisecker of Zelienople; six grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in Trinity Lutheran Church, 638 California Ave., Avalon. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church. Arrangements were by Orion C. Pinkerton Funeral Home, Avalon.
