Died in DeSota, Iowa. David was the son of Andrew Farrar and his wife, Margaret Buchanan Farrar. He was also the husband of Margaret Records Ewing.

From 'Some American Farrars' by C L Farrar:
"This is my uncle, whom I never saw. He was born near Mt. Prospect, Washington County, Penna., on June 21, 1833, and on March 17, 1858 he married Margaret Records Ewing, (who was born in the same county on Aug. 31, 1834), but whether they were married in Pennsylvania or in Illinois I am unable to state. He was farming in Rock Island County, Ill., prior to his marriage. I have seen a letter written by his cousin, John W. Farrar, on July 2, 1857, from Rock Island, Ill., in which he speaks of "Dave Farrar" being near him, and that Dave liked the Illinois country while John did not. Their daughter Mary was born in Illinois in September, 1863. They moved to Iowa soon after and my father visited them on their farm near Montezuma, or DeSoto, Iowa, in the summer of 1864. He died there on May 27, 1869. His widow then returned to Illinois which seems to indicate that it was her former home. Later she married a farmer near Cambridge, Ill., by the name of Phillip Blakely. He died first and she died at the home of her daughter Nancy on Jan. 23, 1917, and is buried in Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge, Ill. David was buried at De Soto, Iowa."
