RAPID CITY — Webster B. Shippey, 84, of Rapid City, died Saturday [Aug. 29, 1981] at Meadowbrook Care Facility, Bellaire.

He was born Oct. 24, 1896, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Charles and Lulu (Richards) Shippey. He was married Sept. 17, 1929, to May Hubbard in Tingrith, Bedfordshire, England.

Surviving are his wife; one sister, Raymonde Schobinger; and several nieces and nephews.

He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Elk Rapids. He was past Rotary Governor of District 629. His lifetime pleasure was fishing.

He was a graduate of Massachusetts Institute of Technology, served in France in the cavalry in World War I and in the military government in Korea.

His permanent residence has been on Elk Lake since 1929.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday [Sept. 1, 1981] at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Elk Rapids. Memorials may be directed to the church or the Meadowbrook Medical Care Facility. Arrangements were made at the Dockery-Wilhelm-Smith Funeral Home, Elk Rapids.
