Mrs. Cleola Crump Byrd, age 94, of Toccoa, GA, passed away Sunday, August 18, 2013.
Born December 20, 1918 in Toccoa, she was a daughter of the late James Richard and Mary Andrews Crump.
She was of the Baptist Faith and was a homemaker. Mrs. Byrd loved being a ministers wife, writing poems, cooking and working in her garden. She taught Sunday School and was the co-owner of Byrd's Grocery and Meat Market. Cleola was the valedictorian of her graduating class at Eastanollee High School and the valedictorian of her graduating class at A & M Business School.
Family members include a son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Louise Byrd; daughters and a son-in-law, Pauline Gailey, Dianne and Jerry Wilkinson, and Nancy Curd; extended family member, Alfred Poole; 9 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Rev. James Monroe Byrd; brothers, Horace Crump, Clarence Crump, and Marvin Crump; step-mother, Carrie Dowis Crump; son-in-law, Thomas Gailey; grandson, Michael Gailey; and a granddaughter, Pamela McIntyre.
