Melba Rudene Stone passed away peacefully at an Abilene hospital Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014, at the age of 93. She was born in Dublin and spent her early years in Vera, Quemado, San Antonio and Gainesville. In 1939 she married James David Stone and then spent most of her life in Haltom City, briefly in Albuquerque, N.M., and most recently in Abilene. She and JD Stone were married 61 years until his passing in June 2000. She enjoyed cooking and sewing for the family, church, and those in need. Her precious legacy will be the countless letters written to all of her friends and loved ones. Survivors: Her daughters, Jay Dene Kail, Vicki Nalani Payton; her son, Gary Stone; six grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Trecie Timberlake; two brothers; three sisters; and her husband, JD Stone. Service: 3 p.m. Wednesday at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Chapel. Rudene will be laid to rest in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park.
