Mollie Elizabeth Cooper, Age 98, died of natural causes June 5, 2015 at the home of her son and his wife in Salida, CO.

Mollie was born in Arnold, Nebraska March 19, 1917. She graduated from High School in Fremont, Nebraska. Shortly after graduation, she met and married Arthur F. Baker, who was a Section Forman for The Chicago and Northwestern Railroad. Art and Mollie moved to Cotopaxi, Colorado where he was employed as a Section Forman for the Rio Grande Railroad. Mollie was a housewife at the time. Several years later, while Art was traveling as a railroad supervisor, Mollie owned and ran a combination restaurant and Phillips 66 service station several miles west of Texas Creek called Mollies Café.

Art died in 1968 of a heart attack. Several years after Arts death, Mollie met and later married William (Coleman) Cooper of Coaldale. Coleman was an avid outdoorsman and was noted for his trapping skills and in hunting Mountain Lions. Mollie was a house wife, she accompanied Coleman on many of his outings.

Mollie was a very social person. She loved attending the Coaldale Club and she was for many years an active member of the Topaz Chapter NO. 27 Order of the Easter Star in Salida. Mollie loved to dance and fondly reminisced about the dances at Hillside near Westcliff.

After Coleman’s death in 2005, Mollie continued to live on their place at Coaldale, on Cottonwood Creek until February 2012, at which time she moved in with her son and his wife.

Mollie is survived by her son James Baker and his wife Melinda of Salida, CO. Step-daughters Wanda Dunn and husband Tom of Roundup, Montana, Coleen Telek and husband Mike of Walden, Colorado, stepson Leonard Cooper of Texas Creek, Colorado, sister Doris Bowers of Arnold, Nebraska and many nieces, nephews grandchildren and great grandchildren.

As per Mollie’s wishes, she will be cremated and her ashes will be taken to Arnold, Nebraska where they will be interred beside her first husband, Art Baker. Arrangements are with Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.
