Thelma Pearl Shreve, age 83 of Petersburg, WV passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2014 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center in Bluefield, WV.

She was born August 18, 1931 in Smoke Hole, WV and was a daughter of the late Otis VanMeter and Alice (Kimble) VanMeter.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Shreve, on May 20, 2000; one son, Roger D. Shreve and one daughter, Barbara A. Shreve; four brothers, Kermit, Clinton, Mervin and Melvin VanMeter and six sisters, Goldie Shirk, Gernie Judy, Gaynell Whetzel, Macil Dolly, Dora Alt and infant Cally VanMeter.

Mrs. Shreve was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Mrs. Shreve retired from Grant Memorial Hospital after 33 years working in the housekeeping department.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Petersburg.

Mrs. Shreve is survived by one son, Steve A. Shreve of Petersburg, WV; three daughters, Karen Hedrick of Maysville, WV, Mary Shreve of Petersburg, WV and Cathy Shreve of Morgantown, WV; three grandchildren, Brandy Shreve, Jonathan and Brandon Hedrick; and seven great grandchildren.

Family will receive friends Tuesday 6-8 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. (Nov. 12, 2014) at the Schaeffer Funeral Home with Elder Lyal D. Shreve and Bishop Jeff Kimble officiating.

Burial will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery, Petersburg, WV.
