Michael "Bez" Ferko, 90, husband of the late Betty J. (Hughes) Ferko, of Phoenixville, PA, died on Friday, Nov. 7, 2014 in Coatesville VA Medical Center.
Born in Phoenixville, PA, he was the son of the late George and Anna (Drevyanko) Ferko.
Michael served in the United States Army during World War II. He worked for the Phoenixville Borough Water and Sewer Department, retiring in 1989. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War Post 1564, Friendship Fire Company and West End Fire Company in Phoenixville.
Michael is survived by three daughters; Sharon, wife of Charles Witmayer of Spring City, Sandra, wife of Joseph Herner of Phoenixville, Elizabeth, wife of Michael Carmichael of Phoenixville; a son, Michael G. Ferko of Phoenixville; 6 grandchildren, Michael and Sheri Witmayer, Matthew and Jena Herner, Kaitlin and Brandon Carmichael; and a brother, Paul Ferko.
He was preceded in death by sisters Anna Ferko, Margaret Strouse, Lillian Gajewski, Theresa Gajewski, Elizabeth Kolar, Barbara Reynolds; and brother, John "Lefty" Ferko.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service in the Devlin Rosmos Kepp & Gatcha Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 517 S. Main Street at Fourth Avenue, Phoenixville, PA, on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. James Badeaux officiating.
Burial will follow in Valley Forge Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held on Tuesday afternoon from 12:30 to 1:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent, in Michael's name, to the Coatesville VA Medical Center Voluntary Services care of "Hospice," 1400 Black Horse Hill Road, Coatesville, PA 19320.
