Anna G. Benischek, 88, passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2006 at St. Mary's Home at Asbury Ridge. She was born in Bronx, N.Y. on April 1, 1918, the daughter of the late Vincent and Rose Crisculo. She is preceded by her husband, Francis M. Benischek; a son, Francis Benischek; and a daughter, Mary Geist. Mrs. Benischek was a professional organist and music teacher serving several Catholic schools and parishes in New York City, most notably Santa Maria Parish in the Bronx. In addition to her full work schedule, she loving raised her five children. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She volunteered to play piano for birthday and other festive occasions at Pleasant Ridge Manor, Saint Mary's Home at Asbury Ridge, and Parkside at Westminster where she resided. She was a dedicated member of Our Lady of Peace. She enjoyed the Erie Chamber Orchestra, locally performed operas, and cooking for her friends and family. Survivors include two sons, Joseph Benischek and his wife Diane of Severna Park, Md., and Vincent Benischek and his wife Rose of Shrub Oak, N.Y.; and a daughter, Barbara Gmuer and her husband Paul of Erie. She was also survived by 10 grandchildren, David, Jennifer, Ben, Kristen, Michael, Joseph, Elizabeth, Mark, Sara, and Lucy; and many nieces and nephews.
