Marion Heflin (nee Brown), 78, of Sheffield Village, passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center after a lengthy illness. She was born May 12, 1936 in Memphis, Tennessee and moved to the Lorain area in 1959.

She graduated from The Hutchinson School in Memphis and held a Bachelor of Science in Education degree from the University of Tennessee. She was a teacher at Lorain High School from 1959 to 1967. She taught at Lorain County Community College for 29 years in the English Department and also taught in the Sheffield-Sheffield Lake City Schools from 1985-2002 at Sheffield Middle School and Brookside High School, where she was a member of the Freshman Orientation Committee, a PACE Coordinator, drama director and yearbook advisor.

Marion was a member of The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Lorain and she served four years as president of the Mothers Club of David J. Nye, Order of DeMolay. She enjoyed sewing, crafts and knitting.

She is survived by her children, Marcia Fleming (Daniel), Diane Sanders (Steven), David Heflin (Karen); step-children, Stephanie Ilcisko (Thomas) and Robert Heflin; as well as her grandchildren, Alicia Chrosniak (Jason), Brandon Sanders, Brianna Fleming, Jared Fleming, Joseph Heflin, Amelia Heflin, Liliana Heflin, Aaron Heflin (Tammy), Mark Heflin, Kyle Ilcisko, Kelli Sunseri (Michael) and Katrina Marcum; great-grandchildren, Cameron Sanders, Kaitlyn Heflin, Aria Ilcisko, Brody Marcum and Hailee Yourich and three nieces.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, William Heflin in 2012; her parents, William and Marion Brown and her brother, William P. Brown III.

A celebration of her life will be held at The Church of the Redeemer, Lorain, at 7:30 P.M., Sunday, November 9, 2014. Friends will be received from 5 P.M. until the time of her service at 7:30 P.M. Reverend Mary Carson will officiate. Graveside Services will be held Monday, November 10, 2014 at 12 Noon at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
