"Mrs. Leta Herndon Eubank, 76 died at the local hospital early Monday afternoon an illness of three weeks. She became ill suddenly August 25 at the Freestone County Fair.
Funeral services were held from the First Methodist Church Tuesday afternoon with the Rev. Bill Thompson officiating. Interment followed at the Fairfield Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Chester L Carroll, Carl Wellford, Otie Utley, Aubrey Bake, W.F. Tate, and Morris Sneed.
Mrs. Eubank was born in Fairfield Oct 11, 1878, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Herndon where she lived all her life. She was married to the late Henry Eubank Nov 11, 1899. She was active in church and civic and community fairs.
Survivors include six sons Henry Eubank, Lester Eubank, Dick Eubank, and Kenneth Eubank of Dallas, Lee Eubank and Joe Edd Eubank of Fairfield; four daughters Mrs. Carl (Leta) Heath, Mrs. Ralph (Mary) Kitchens and Mrs. Maggie Nicholas of Fairfield and Mrs. H Van Hawes of Pasadena; one brother, Henry Herndon of Bryan; 10 grandcildren; six great grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends. One son, Herndon died in October 1952.
A large number of out of town relatives and friends was here for the service Tuesday.
