She was born on July 23, 1936 to Jake and Lois (Wright) Long in Clarke County, MS.
Scharlene is survived by her sons, Mickey Long, Terry (Carole) Loper, and Ty (Diane) Loper; brother, Harlon "Buddy" Long; grandchildren, Brandie Cooper, Angie Shelton, Heather Loper, Max Loper, Anthony Loper, Pelagia McHenry, Paul Gatzas, Jacob Matthew Loper, Justin Wayne Dickerson, Melton Everett James, Christina L. James, and Dillon James; great-grandchildren, Zagar Cooper, Aydan Cooper, Chloe Shelton, Micah Long, Malachi Long, Sam Loper, Katie Loper, Dean Loper, Zoey McHenry, Waylon Cole Reese, Kaitlyn Annabelle James, Zella Rose Loper, and Adyone Creel.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jake and Lois Long; and sister, Sheryl Cook.
Visitation will be held Saturday, November 8, 2014, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at Wright's Funeral Home, Quitman, Mississippi.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2014, 12:00 pm at the Wright's Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will take place in the East Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Anthony Loper, Max Loper, Matthew Loper, Everett James, Justin Dickerson, and Mark Nicosia.
