Dr. R. A. Gardner


Funeral services for Dr. R. A. Gardner, 97, who died Dec. 13 at Marietta, Okla., were conducted Thursday 15th at the First Baptist church, Marietta, Okla., his old home. Bratcher directed the services. He had resided in Denison for the past ten years. He resided at Marietta for 57 years prior to coming to Denison. He was a pioneer physician in Indian Territory and Oklahoma and retired in 1955.


A native of Kentucky, he was born May 7, 1863. His schooling was received in the Louisville Medical school. Married in the Indian Territory to Miss Fannie Ella Toone, the couple settled in their Oklahoma home.


Born to them were two sons, W. A. and R. E. Gardner, both of Oklahoma, and four daughters, Mrs. C. O. Woods, Dallas, Mrs. E. E. Robinson, Siloam Springs, Ark., Mrs. Ralph Ownby, Durant, and Mrs. Fred Gemeinhart, Denison.


Surviving also are 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
