Code J. Pennington, 91, of Wilmington, died at his home on Monday, November 3, 2014.

He was born in Elliott County, KY on February 10, 1923 the son of Harve Greene and Jennie Elizabeth Jarrells Pennington. He served in the Navy on the USS Texas during World War II. He was a lifelong farmer and his two social clubs were McCall’s and West Side.

Code is survived by his wife, of 65 years, Evelyn Roush Pennington and his children Connie Cook of Satellite Beach, FL, Rita (Dan) Bashaw of Wilmington and Richard (Laura) Pennington of Eugene, OR; grandchildren, Brandie (Chad) Hadley, Angela (Eric) Fleak, Jayme Smithson, James (Hannah) Smithson, Jon (Brandi) Smithson, Alycia (Jason) Rahe, Amber (Paul Gibson) Bashaw, Abbie (Zack) Taylor; 12 great grandchildren; his sister, Lillian (Cliff) Horne of Vandalia; and many loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded by six siblings.

His funeral service will be held on Friday at 2 pm at the Littleton Funeral Home in Sabina with burial in the Centerville Cemetery in Lees Creek. Military honors will be accorded by Wilmington Post 49. Friends may call on Friday from 12 until 2 pm at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Community Care Hospice or Autumn Years Nursing Center, Sabina.
