Born in Campobello, he was a son of the late William Perry and Ollie Kirby Patterson. Mr. Patterson served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of First Baptist Church. He retired as County Supervisor for Farmers Home Administration, USDA.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three children, Cindy Wright, Mike Patterson and wife Beth, and Billy Joe Patterson and wife Robin all of Laurens; sister, Eva Lowe of Spartanburg; brothers, Roy Patterson of Greenville and Jack Patterson and wife Jeanette of Simpsonville; ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and nine siblings, John was predeceased by a daughter, Cathy Ward.
