Born Feb. 21, 1909, in Provence to Gail A. and Martha Waller Deatherage, he died Sept. 21, 2002, at a local health-care facility.

A lifelong resident of this area, he was a farmer, carpenter and school bus driver for Mt. Washington school. He was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Juanitta, in 1986; his second wife, Lola Jordan Deatherage in 2001; three brothers, Alvin, Otis and Henry; and three sisters, Ollie, Josie and Jessie.

He is survived by nieces and nephews, among them, Fern Keith and M. Louise Elmore, Ardmore.

Bearers will be Mike and John Burkhart, Jeff Whatley, Charlie Rowe and Darrell Deatherage.

Memorials may be made to Cross Timbers Hospice.
