William Howard “Bill” Rusmisel, Jr., 65, husband of Leona “Loni” Rusmisel, of 1882 Shutterlee Mill Road passed away Monday, November 3, 2014, at his residence.
Mr. Rusmisel was born on April 19, 1949, in Waynesboro, a son of the late William H Sr. and Mildred (Conner) Rusmisel.
Bill was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church. Mr. Rusmisel retired as a warehouse manager for the Staunton Correctional Center. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, football, racing, and sports in general. Bill was a very caring man, always wanting to help others especially the elderly. His family was everything to him and he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Rusmisel was preceded in death by two sisters, Patricia Vest and Joyce Riley.
In addition to his loving wife of 22 years, Mr. Rusmisel is survived by three sons, John Rusmisel and wife Dana McClanahan of Staunton, Michael Snell and wife Wendy of Stuarts Draft, and Scott Hays and wife Megan of Virginia Beach; two daughters, Judy Sorrells and husband Chris of Verona and Amanda Freemantle and husband Jason of Waynesboro; a brother, Robert Rusmisel of Staunton; a sister, Lorraine Balmoos and husband John of Pennsylvania; nine grandchildren, Austin, Nick, Christian, Katie, Colton, Kaleigh Joy, Patrick, Kamryn, and Benjamin; and two special friends Jason Vernam and Tony Greaver also survive.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 6, 2014, in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the residence.
A Celebration of life will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 7, 2014, in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Debbie Brown.
Burial will follow in the Oak Lawn Memory Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be Chuck Crawford, Bill O’Connell, Scott Hatter, Mike Walters, Carl Chastain, and Kenny Reed.
Honorary pallbearers will be his children and grandchildren.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
