He was born May 17, 1921, in Keenes, Ill., a son of Raymond R. and Zelma G. (Tolbert) Sanders. Morris married M. Natalie Wooden on July 1, 1956, in Mount Vernon, Ill. She passed away on Jan. 20, 2004, in Peoria.
He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Denise Sanders in 1959; one sister; and one brother.
Surviving are two daughters, Ella (Mark) Houvenagle of Rockville, Ind., and Sue (Jeff) Marquardt of Peoria; five grandchildren, Andrew, Kayla and Hannah Houvenagle and Tyler and Aubrey Marquardt; and several nieces and nephews.
Morris served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, achieving the rank of corporal.
He worked for Caterpillar, Inc., for 35 years, last working as a design engineer.
Morris was a member of Woodland Baptist Church in Peoria, serving as a deacon for 39 years.
Services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 7, 2014, at his church. The Rev. Joel Newton will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 6, 2014, at The Wilton Mortuary in Peoria, and also one hour prior to service at church. Graveside services and burial will be at Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City, Ill., on Saturday at 1 p.m.
