Jimmy E. Allen, 74, of Iowa City, died November 1, 2014 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

In accordance with Jimmy's wishes, no public services will be held. His cremated remains will be buried privately at a later time in the New Virginia Cemetery, alongside his wife, Beverly, who passed away earlier this year.

Jimmy was born April 17, 1940; the son of Everett and Alta (Elliot) Allen. He married Beverly Ann Harris June 15, 1963 at the First Methodist Church in Fairfield, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Army in the early 60's stationed in Hawaii and after his service he and Beverly moved to Ottumwa briefly and then Iowa City in 1966. He worked for many years at Jim's Barber Shop. As a barber, Jim was a very social man, and loved chatting with people. He also enjoyed time spent antiquing with Beverly.

Their family includes three sons; Mike Allen of Iowa City, Terry Allen and his wife, Megan of Riverside and "KC" Allen of Riverside; three grandchildren, Tyler, Jacob and Kylie Allen all of Riverside; sister, June Ingamells of Oelwein and brother-in-law, Bob Cook of Arkansas as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly; parents; sister, Janet Cook; Beverly's parents; brother-in-law, Earl Imgamells and nephew, Allen Imgamells.
