Ruby was the second born, first daughter of Frelan & Lizzie Patton. She was born and raised in Wagoner OK. Her family relocated temporarily during the 'Dust Bowl' years to California. In November of 1945 at the age of 17 she met Norman Wing who had returned home to Oklahoma from fighting in WWII. As she used to tell us, my grandfather was actually getting a parking ticket, she noticed and went into the bar where she knew he was with his brother Troy, whom she knew, and told him of the incident. They then met again when my grandfather's younger uncle, Jimmie, set them up on a date. My grandpa apparently didn't dance, but my grandma said he danced with her. They didn't know each other long, just a few short weeks before they were married. Days after, they hitch hiked out to Los Angeles and made their home. They had one son, Eric, in 1956 and resided in Norwalk, Ca.
She worked in shipping and was also a housewife. In her retirement she loved crocheting, making afghans, booties, baby clothes and winning several prizes for her talent. She sang in her church choir and had a beautiful voice. She also enjoyed gardening.
She had 4 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. My grandparents were married 64 years.
