J. A. Clemenson Is Laid To Rest – Funeral Services Held for Well-Known Druggist

Funeral services for James A. Clemenson, 68, for many years a druggist in Portland and long interested in literary activities, were held November 10, with burial in Riverview cemetery.

Born at Winona, Minn., he came to Oregon at the age of 13. He was graduated from Pacific college, Newberg, and then came to Portland 46 years ago to be a clerk in the Strowbridge drugstore, which he later purchased.

Interested in literary work throughout his life, he had often contributed articles to magazines to supplement his income during his early married life and was a frequent writer of “letters to the editor,” many of which were published in The Oregonian. A poem he had written for that purpose was read at the funeral.

Mr. Clemenson is survived by the widow, Ephia Clemenson; two sons, John and Ted of Portland; two grandchildren; a brother and two sisters in Los Angeles, and a sister in Newberg.
