Excerpt from HISTORY OF INDIANAPOLIS AND MARION COUNTY, INDIANA (1884), page 557:
"William was born in Hamilton County, Ohio, Feb.1,1810. He emigrated to this township(Lawrence)with his parents in 1832. At end of one year returned to Ohio, remaining there five years, and then returned to this county and bought the farm on which he has since resided. He was married Jan. 20, 1839, to Catharine Newhouse. He has been an industrious farmer all his life."
