Thomas G. Armstrong, 85, of 141 35th St. NE, died Saturday in a Cedar Rapids hospital following a short illness.
Born May 1, 1893, at Atkins, he was married to Lois M. Wetzel Aug. 16, 1917, in Cedar Rapids. He farmed in the Atkins area and later was employed by the Cedar Rapids public schools. He was a member of First Lutheran Church and Mizpah Masonic Lodge and Cedar Rapids Consistory, and was past worth patron of the Eastern Star at Fairfax.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Gayle Balhorn, Oakbrook, Ill.; three sisters, Lillian Gensicke and Celia Wiley, Cedar Rapids, and Elsie Allen, Lincoln, Calif.; a brother, Samuel C. Armstrong, Cedar Rapids, and two grandchildren.
Services: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in First Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids. Masonic services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Monday in Cedar Memorial funeral home by Mizpah Lodge. Friends may donate to the Memorial Fund of First Lutheran Church. The family will be at the funeral home from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. The casket will be closed prior to the service. Burial: Cedar Memorial.
