The sad and tragic death of John Dooley, one of the best and most deserving young men of Southern Holt, at the home in Kinsey district, cast a great gloom over this community and that of Forest City. Weary and tired, he concluded to take that sleep that knows no wakening by hanging himself in the hay mow sometime after 10 p.m. of Sunday, June 10, 1906, as that was the last seen of him alive.
The deceased was born in the Kinsey district, Jan. 4, 1882, and died June 10, 1906, in the 25th year of his age. When quite young he united with the Christian church, and was ever an earnest, consistent worker in the Master's cause.
The body was removed to the home of his mother, and on Tuesday the funeral services were held, conducted by Rev. Hardman, the body being followed to its last resting place by a large concourse of saddened friends, which bore evidence of the high esteem in which he was held, the interment being in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Oregon.
Some time, we'll understand.
