Sarah Elizabeth was the third child born to William & Sarah (Matlock) Paul. Her two older sisters were 12 and 9 years old when she was born. Her only brother was born 4 years later and her mother died at that time in childbirth.

Both of her sisters married in Kendall County, IL in 1851. Mary Ann & Jesse Smith moved to Madison Co. Iowa that year, as their two daughters were born there.

By 1854, William Paul, Jesse Smith and Reuben & Melvina (Paul) Moore were all located in Madison County, Iowa. By the end of that year, William had remarried. She was to grow up with 3 step siblings and 3 half siblings plus her younger brother. Her father & step-mother had 3 more girls after she was married.

In 1860, the family was found in Douglas County, Kansas. This is where Sarah Elizabeth & Samuel Lockard were married in 1862. Their first 3 children were born there also.

The 1870, 1880 and 1900 census show the family in Madison County, Iowa where Samuel was farming. 5 more children were born to this couple, but their first born, William died in 1873. The other 7 children grew to adulthood. The couple moved to Des Moines and Samuel died there in 1906.

Sarah E. married C.G.(Charles) Weeks on 5 Feb. 1910 and can be found on the census records of 1910 & 1915 in Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa.

The 1932 McDivitt Cemetery records which are held by the Recreation Dept. in the Urbandale, Iowa City Hall list her death date and burial place.
