Grover W. Collum Obituary
Now comes Grover W. Collum, 79, a true gentleman of Texas, who passed Sunday, Oct. 26, 2014, through this world and on to the next. Funeral: 9:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 3, in Greenwood Chapel. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. From Sulphur Springs, born of J.L. And Marie, he arrived in August 1935 and traveled on to a last stop in Weatherford in 2014. Grover spread joy and happiness wherever he went. He knew no harsh word and claimed friendship with all who would have it. Lovingly married to Harriett for these 60 years, making their home in North Richland Hills, Fort Worth, Tyler and, finally, Weatherford. Their deep love endured everything that 60 years brings: kids, jobs, opportunities, challenges, and the day-to-day vagaries best overcome by clinging to each other. Raising three children devoted to their dad, Katy, Cindy and David. Beloved father-in-law for Christine. All are saddened but forever enriched and made glad for a dad at peace, and no doubt, marching down a wide green fairway happily. Adored and admired by his grandchildren, Amy, Emily, Leah, Meagan, Mia, Lacy, Jack, Adam and Danny, he watched over them more than they realize. Grover always encouraged his family to cultivate their talents, seek their own path and be stronger for that, wherever that path might lead. Now, his clan spreads from New England, across Texas and on to California. Great-grandchildren sharing in his legacy are Major, Addison, Tyler, Mason, Miles, Lucy and Madyson, with more to come. From Grover's humble beginnings, they will spring on to fine accomplishments. Good friends included Walt, Gene, Lane, Bob, John and a host of others who shared his love of fishing, golfing, hunting and raising family. Godspeed, Dad, and keep it in the fairway!
