She was born July 6, 1932, in Kentucky to Owen and Harriet Bowman Beavens.
She was devoted to her family. She spent her whole life caring for her children, grandchildren, and her two sisters' adult handicapped children. She was the most loving soul ever put on this earth.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William Patrick Settles, Sr., two brothers, William Asten Beavens, and Johnny Beavens, and her two sisters, Frances "Franny" Fulton and Stella Gray.
She is survived by her two sons, Paul Joseph Johnson of Marengo, and William Patrick Settles, Jr, of Corydon. Her three daughters: Susan Ann Marie Snawder, Marcena Lee Duley, all of Corydon, six grandchildren (including Virginia Catherine Settles Hensley), and 17 great-grandchildren, and 10 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Friday, Oct 31, 2014, at 2:00 PM at the Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon. Chaplain John Helm will conduct the service. Visitation will be Friday, Oct 31, from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
