Fred is loved, missed and remembered
forever in the hearts of all who
loved him. Fred was loved by Family,
Friends and his community. Fred was
born in Germany. Fred's brother
Johann passed away in Germany in
1863. Fred, his Parents and Brother
John immigrated to the came to USA in
1873. They left from Hansdorf Germany
Oct. 25, 1873. They arrived in
New York approx. Nov. 19, 1873
after traveling on the Ship Bavaria.
First to Illinois, then Fayette Co. Iowa
by approx. 1875. John's Father and older
brother John were Farmers. Fred was an
excellent Farmer. Fred married
Flora Rachow Sept. 8, 1892 in Bremer Co.
Iowa. They raised their children
in Bethel Township Fayette Co. Iowa.
They resided in Fayette Co. Iowa for
many years. Fred and Flora are
survived by many Grandchildren,
Great grandchildren, Cousins,
Nephews, Nieces, many other
Relatives and Friends. Many
Relatives around the USA, including
Iowa and MN and in Germany.

There is a very good biographical
sketch ( lengthy) about Fred that
includes his Family. Very likely many
more articles not located yet.
Fred and Flora were very
active in the Fayette Iowa Community.
Fred held many elected/appointed
positions, was a successful Farmer,
Businessman, Constable, Delegate, School
Director and the list goes on. They
were both very well liked and very
respected in the community. The Fayette

and Present of Fayette County 1910
written by G. Blessin may be one of
the many articles about Fred.

A Relative shared some of what our
Relatives MN know about Fred, Flora
and their children. There most
likely is much written about Fred as
he was so active, but this should be a must
read in his Memory. It was evident the
community loved Fred and Flora as much
as their Family loved them. The
biography was written in 1910, many
years before Fred and Flora passed away.

"Married Forty - Nine Years "

" Mr. and Mrs. Fred Boie were
surprised Sunday when relatives
came to help them celebrate their
49th Wedding Anniversary at a
Picnic Dinner. Their granddaughter
Mrs. Lester Weideman baked the
Wedding cake. Mr. Boie is
seventy-two years of age and was
born in Mecklenberg Schwerin
Germany. Mrs. Boie, the former
Flora Rachow of Sumner was born
in Auglas County Ohio and is
sixty-nine. They were Married in
St. Johns Lutheran Church in
Sumner Sept. 8, 1892 by
Rev. H. Bredow. Mrs Chris Granneman,
Charles Weideman and Mr. and Mrs
Will Hoth were their attendants.
They lived on the Boie Farm
homestead where their son Joe
now lives and later moved to their
present home. They have another son,
Louis of Beebe S. D. and one daughter
Mrs. Howard Van Brocklin who with
her family lives with them. They
have nine grandchildren and one
great grandchild. One son, Carl
died at the age of twelve.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Boie are in
fair health. Mr. Boie has been a
member of the school board for
42 years and when the Alpha Consolidated
School was organized in 1915, he was made
President of the board. He is also
President of the Alpha Telephone
Company and the Treasurer of the
Creamery. Both Mr. and Mrs. Boie
are Members of the Richfield
Lutheran Church, Mr. Boie being
the first child to be confirmed
there."
