Dr. James Taylor married Elizabeth Underwood in 1652, probably in Isle of Wight County, VA.

By March 26, 1654, Elizabeth petitioned the Governor and Council to grant a separation because Dr. Taylor had been abusive to her. Elizabeth's plans were to go to live with her mother.

Dr. Taylor evidently died before any further legal action was taken.

Dr. Taylor's estate was probated in Surry County, VA, 1-May-1655, at which time Elizabeth (Underwood) Taylor was married to Francis Slaughter.
