Malcolm Munro Elder was the oldest son of John Tully Elder and Mary Ann Munro. He was one of six children and was eleven years old when his mother died in childbirth. He married Agnes Gardiner, dau of William Gardner and Isabella Wight, on Jan. 21, 1886 in Cornwall, Ontario. They became the parents of seven children: Isabella Florence, Oric John, Mary Laura, William Gardner, Malcolm Munro, Stewart and Annie Elizabeth. Malcolm died in 1903 at the age of 40 years.
