Charles A. Gilliland, 88, Locust Fork, died Oct. 23, 2014, at UAB Hospital. Retired from the UAB Police Department, he had served with the U.S. Army, was a member of the Masonic Lodge #481, Amaranth, Eastern Star, Zamora Shriners, and served on the Locust Fork City Council. He enjoyed gardening and traveling and was a member of Grace Community Baptist Church. Parents Dewey Webster and Jennie Eliza Robertson Gilliland predeceased him, as did wife Imogene Jackson Gilliland.

Surviving are sons Chuck (Donna) Gilliland, Carlton (Carolyn) Gilliland; daughters Brenda (Curtis) Webster, Kim Dawson; grandchildren Judy Anderson, Larry Oddom, David Gilliland, Phillip (Kayla) Dawson, Patrick (Kristin) Dawson, April Dawson, Krista Gilliland Williams, Dale Gilliland; great-grandchildren; sister Norma Collier.

Darrell Fitzgerald and David Raborn officiated the 11 a.m. service held Oct. 27 at Blount County/Cleveland Funeral Home chapel, with burial at Tabernacle Cemetery.

Charles A. Gilliland, 88, Locust Fork, died Oct. 23, 2014, at UAB Hospital.
