Birth name: Octavus Augustus Joannes Vanbeselaere, son of Alphonse Augustus Vanbeselaere and Marie Mathilde Cloet.

He was married to Mary Joaquina Clark, daughter of William A. Clark, former senator, railroad and mining magnate. His sister was Rachel de Brabant ( memorial 85377586 ). Marius de Brabant was a key figure in the history of Los Angeles, involved with the development of railway lines to the newly expanded Los Angeles Harbor in the 1920s, then a patron of the arts both in LA and Palm Springs, and ultimately an artist himself.
