Elton West McCord, 47, of Norwood, died unexpectedly in the McDuffie County Hospital Saturday.

Mr. McCord was a son of the late Lorena Hyman McCord. He was a deacon, treasurer and past supertendantof New Providence Baptist Church. He was a member of the Merchants Marines in World war 11 and was employed at Warner Robins AFB in the maintenance department.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Blanche King McCord, Norwood; two sons, Herman Elliott McCord, Thompson, and Elton Eugene McCord, Norwood; one daughter, Miss Nancy McCord, Denver, Colorado; father, Herman W. McCord, Norwood;
step-mother, Mrs. Anita Harrison McCord, Norwood; four brothers, C. W. McCord, Trenton, S.C., L. E. McCord, Camak. Ga., W. D. McCord Thompson, two sisters, Mrs. George A. Ray, Norwood, and Mrs. Bobby Dwell, Millen, Ga.; amd a number of nieces and nephews.


1st Wife- Grace Estelle Dowling McCord
Funeral services for Grace Estelle Dowling McCord, 33, who died at her residence here Tuesday night following an extended illness, will be conducted at the New Providence Baptist church Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Rev, Waldo P. Harris officiating, assisted by Rev. M. J. Bruce, Rev. John Harris and Rev. Robert Harris. Intermebt will be in the churchyard.

Serving as pallbearers will be F. G. Smallwood, T. B. Hyman, W. E. Smallwood, J. L. Hyman, B. W. Hyman and Glenn A. Hyman. The body will rest at the residence of Mrs. McCord's father-in-law H. W. McCord, from 11 a.m. Thursday until the hour of the funeral.

A native of Brantley County, Ga. Mrs. McCord was a member of the New Providence Baptist Baptist church. She moved to Warren county, 15 years ago. Mrs. McCord was the daughter of the late Mrs. Lula Mae DuBose.

Surviving are her father, John Henry Dowling of Hoboken, Ga. husband, Elton West McCord of Norwood; one son Herman Elliott McCord of Norwood, one daughter Nancy Lula McCord of Norwood, two brothers, Paul Clifton Dowling, of Waycross and James Robert Dowling of the U. S. Army; three sisters, Mrs. Charles Druhl of Nahunta, Mrs. Clay Calhoun Jr. of Madison and Mrs. Johnny Devilblss of Baltimore; father-in-law, H. W. McCord of Norwood and a number of other relatives.
