Marguerite J. Van Gorp, age 96, of Appleton, died Monday, October 20, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. She was born in Racine, WI on June 30, 1918, to the late Simon and Clara (Mollen) Van Gorp. Marguerite resided at 1019 S. Mason St., Appleton, for 90 years. After graduating from Appleton High School, she started working at her family bakery business, Van Gorp Bakery. In 1957, Marguerite opened her own business "Marguerite's Shop" a card, gift, and apparel store in Menasha and operated it until her retirement in 1988. She was treasurer for the Menasha Business Persons Association for 10 years, and was also an officer for the Zonta Club for 6 years. Marguerite was a lifelong member at St. Mary Parish in Appleton.She is survived by three sisters: Marcella "Sally" Pendergast, Appleton, Catherine Meixl, Neenah, and Petronella "Pet" Vanden Heuvel, Appleton; and sister-in-law Jacquelyn Van Gorp, IL. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents Simon and Clara (Mollen) Van Gorp, "Little" Catherine Van Gorp (1926), two sisters: Dorothy Kiley and Betty Bradley; two brothers: Gene Van Gorp and Roman Van Gorp; sister-in-law Edna Van Gorp; five brothers-in-law: Bill Kiley, John Bradley, Ben Meixl, John Vanden Heuvel, and Colon Pendergast; and special friend Red Menier.
