DIED - MARTIN - At the home of his daughter, Mrs. Augustine Roedl, 212 York street, this city, at 4:20 a.m., Wednesday, January 24, 1912, of an affection [sic] of the lungs, Mr. Dennison D. Martin, aged 76 years and 1 month.
Mr. Martin was one of Beaver Dam's oldest residents, having come here in 1865 and lived here continuously since. He came here from Sugar Grove, Penn., with Wm. D. Edgerton, who at once engaged in the livery business and employed Mr. Martin. After the death of Mr. Edgerton and the disposal of the business to Mr. Phillip Staab, Mr. Martin continued to be employed there practically all of the time since.
He was born in Westernville, Oneida county, N. Y., December 24, 1836 [sic], and resided with his parents there until sixteen years of age, when he went to Sugar Grove, Pennsylvania. In September, 1860., he was united in marriage to Miss Cornelia Temple, at the latter named place, and with his wife came to this city in August, 1865. Mrs. Martin died in August, 1875. Four children were born to this union, two of whom survive. They are Nellie Banks of Milwaukee, and Frank T. Martin of this city. Mr. Martin was again married on December 11, 1882, to Miss Ellen Brockway of this city, the ceremony being performed at Waupun. One child was born of this second marriage - Mrs. Nettie C. Roedl - who together with his widow and one brother, Theodore M. Martin, who resides at the home farm at Westernville, N. Y., survive.
The funeral will be held from the home of his daughter at 2 p.m. today and interment will be in the Old cemetery [Beaver Dam City Cemetery]
