MRS ANNIE TANNER
Services To Be In Indianola This Afternoon
Services will be held at 3 p.m. today in Indianola, Miss., for Mrs. Annie O. Tanner, widow of James W. Tanner, grocer and farmer. She died at 1 a.m. yesterday in Mustin Nursing Home where she had been a patient since January. She was 86.
Coleman Funeral Home is in charge. Burial will be in the Indianola Cemetery.
Mrs. Tanner was a member of the Johnson family which was among the early settlers in Sunflower County, Miss. Mrs. Tanner moved to Memphis in 1902 and lived at 1310 Mississippi.
Her father, Capt. Frank Johnson, was a steamboat operator and was one of the first settlers of Indianola. The town was originally named Johnsonville.
Only three of Mrs. Tanner's 13 children are still alive. They are James W. Tanner and O.S. Tanner of Grenada, Miss., and W.M. Tanner of Oxford, Miss. She also leaves 10 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
