Willie A. "Bill" Ervin age 97 of the Snow Hill Community passed away Friday morning, October 24, 2014 at the Newport Health and Rehab. He was the son of the late Felix and Elsie Hicks Ervin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Minnie Bell Ervin, Ruby Page and Rosie Durham. He was a Baptist and a Farmer. Survivors include his lifelong Friend and Special Companion, Maxine Spurgeon of Smithville; Special Family and Caregivers, Randy and Pat Spurgeon of Newport; Special Baby, Stephanie Spurgeon of Newport; Several Nieces and Nephews and Special Friend, Jewell Duke of Dowelltown. Funeral services will be conducted 1:PM Sunday, October 26, 2014 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial to follow in Mt. Holly Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Sunday from 11:AM until the time of the service at 1:PM. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
