Leroy Louis Dean (1903 – 1982)
Ellie (Ella) Rose Dean (1905 – 1981)
Florence Marie Dean (1907 – 1959)
Dorothy Mary Dean (1910 – 2005)
Ella was committed to the Chicago State Hospital on 24 Jun 1928. She had recently miss-carried a baby and was believed to be going through the change of life. In addition, pictures at the time of her wedding, compared to pictures taken shortly before her commitment indicate she might have suffered from a thyroid condition. Because so little was known of each of these conditions at that point in time we believe she was committed for what would be treatable today. She stayed at the Chicago State Hospital until her death in 1953. Her husband, being a devout Catholic, never remarried despite their lengthy time apart.
