Graveside services for Darold D. Cooper were held Thursday, Dec. 16 at the Fairview Cemetery in Bedford, Iowa with Pastor Glenn Johnson officiating. Military services were conducted by American Legion Post 164, Bedford.
Darold D. [orman] Cooper, 78, of Fremont, Neb. died Sunday, Dec. 12 at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha, Neb.
Darold was born October 1, 1915 in New Market, Iowa. He grew up in Gravity where he farmed until 1961, he then moved to Loveland, Colo, where he was the manager for Builders Order Center until 1972. In 1972 he moved to Clarinda, Iowa where he farmed until he retired in 1983, and then moved to Fremont, Neb. in 1989.
Darold married Gwelda J. [essie] Wheeler on May 24, 1941 in Maryville, Mo.
Darold was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #20 in Fremont, Neb.
He received the Alaska Highway Drivers Award.
He is survived by his wife Gwelda of Fremont, Neb.; son, David (his wife Delilah) Cooper, Fremont, Neb.; half-brothers, Rex Cooper and wife Ruth of Littleton, Colo., Jack Cooper and wife Mona of Redmond, Wash.; half-sisters, Mrs. Charles (Lorene) Poley of Kirkland, Wash., Bonnie Hinkle of Folsom, Penn.; granddaughter, Jessie Cooper of Fremont, Neb.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John P. Cooper and Jennie (Jones) Cooper; two brothers, two half-brothers, one half-sister, aunt and uncle: Clara and Arvy Baker.
