Jacob Matney was born in Webster county, Mo., on February 17, 1849, and passed away at the home of his daughter, in Gas City, Kas., on Sunday, January 24, 1932, at the age of 82 years, 11 months, and 7 days.
On June 23, 1872, he was united in marriage with Miss Margaret Rippee, who preceded him in death on August 19, 1918. To this union nine children were born, five of whom survive him: Mrs S Symmes, Gas City, Kans; Mrs E S Anderson, Iola, Kas; Mrs W F Davis, Depue, Ill.; Ezra Matney, Gas City, and W. I Matney, Fowler, Colo. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and a great host of close relatives and personal friends, all of whom loved him and mourn his passing.
