Shirley was born into the loving family of Wilford Joseph and Lorene Hatch Haacke, the younger sister to John Wilford. They resided in Bountiful, Utah.

Many of the qualities and characteristics that made Shirley such a warm, caring, accepting, and selfless person were exemplified and practiced in her home. Her musical gift's and signature vocal talent were fostered and developed through her musical family.

Shirley married Donald R. Egginton civilly in the Salt Lake Temple on March 30, 1956 and they were sealed on August 23, 1963. They had four children, Kim, Brad, Duff, and Mindy, and became "Nana" and "Gaga" to fourteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. They are cherished and loved by all - "More Than Tongue Can Tell" - a signature Egginton phrase.

From early youth until her death at age eighty, she was and is, the truest example of unconditional love and enduring faithfully with a cheerful countenance.

Her gifts of friendship, compassion, trustworthiness, and wisdom were offered freely to all! There were no strangers to Shirley. She enriched the lives of all whose blessing it was to know her and feel of her love. She filled many roles and had countless notable accomplishments, chief among them, being a devoted disciple and follower of Jesus Christ.

Our favorite and most tender memories are surrounded by beautiful harmony. Sing beautiful songs again, Shirley!
