Mrs. Loretta May Meneeley, 215 Maple St., Freeland, died at 2:45 a.m. today at St. Joseph Hospital where she had been a patient since Aug. 22. A daughter of the late Lafayette and Mary Ellen (Booth) Acker, she had resided in Sandy Valley before locating in Freeland 23 years ago. The deceased was a member of St. James Episcopal Church of Freeland and Drifton, president of the Episcopal Church Women, a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Drake-Wear V.F.W. Post 589, Hazleton; the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post 473, Freeland; the Vitality Club and Gold Star Mothers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ellsworth R., May 16, 1969, and a son, E. Bruce, was killed during the Korean Conflict. She also was preceded in death by these brothers and sister: Charles, Roosevelt, Alexander, William Acker and Mrs. Emma Hall. Surviving are sons, Malcolm N. and Ronald D., Freeland; three grandchildren, these sisters and brother: Mrs. Mary Manjone, Conyngham; Mrs. Dora Walton and Mrs. Anna Fulk, Freeland; Mrs. Nora Aker and Clifford Acker, Freeland, and a number of nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. from the Cotterall Funeral Home, Freeland, with continued services at 2 o'clock in St. James Episcopal Church, Freeland. The Rev. David A. Feyrer, rector of the Lower Luzerne Episcopal Parish, will conduct the services. Interment will be in the Freeland Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
