Nina Joane Mikesell, 71, a longtime Baker City resident, died June 21, 2006, at her daughter's home in Pasco, Wash.
Her graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Mount Hope Cemetery. Pat Brunner will officiate. Friends are invited to join the family for a reception after the service at Nina's home at 2704 Ninth St.
Nina was born on Oct. 27, 1934, at Atwood, Kan., to Earl and Deloris Bohall Moore. She married Donald Mikesell on Aug. 30, 1949, at Ukiah, Calif.
In her younger years, Nina was quite a businesswoman. She and her husband ran the restaurant at Tiny Jones' and later ran Timber Toters Inc., employing her son and sons-in-law.
She had a passion for oriental decor. Nina spent many hours in her beautiful gardens full of exotic oriental plants and overflowing with colorful flowers. She also enjoyed reading novels. Nina was a loving grandmother and mother; she always put her family first.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Mikesell; her father, Earl Moore; her mother, Deloris Moore; and brothers, Bobby and Terry Moore.
Survivors include her son, Tim Mikesell of Pendleton; her daughters, Cindy Calder of Baker City and Sharon White of Pasco, Wash.; sisters, Linda Paige and Delores Bettencourt; sister-in-law, Brenda Moore; brother-in-law Pat Brunner; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and six nieces and 10 nephews.
