Darlene R. Alexander, "Tootie" to family and friends, was born on Feb. 10, 1947 in Canton to the late Lowell "Dude" and Cathryn (Burr) Alexander. Soon after graduating from Canton High School in 1965, Tootie married Robert "Bob" Williams on July 29, 1965 at Troy's St. John's Roman Catholic Church. Blessed with a kind, caring nature, Tootie's devotion to family, home and several friendships was always most important. She happily was a stay-at-home wife and mother, but in later years also enjoyed working at the Troy Elementary School cafeteria. Being outdoors while cultivating her flower gardens and yard brought her contentment.
Surviving are her beloved husband, Robert; a daughter, Shannon Williams; granddaughter, Krista (Brock) Nichols; great-grandson, Blaiz Nichols; sister-in-law, Sharon Alexander; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Marcy Morseman; grandson, Shayne Morseman; and siblings, Norm Alexander and Sharon Holmes.
In keeping with Tootie's wishes, a memorial service will be held at a later date. Those who wish may direct memorials to: A Hope 4 Lyme, P.O. Box 1004, Elmira, NY 14902.
