Orla M. "Bud" Ballinger , 89, of Woodbury, NJ, died Nov. 5, 2006 in Underwood - Memorial Hospital, Woodbury, NJ.
Bud was a lifelong resident of Woodbury. He graduated from Woodbury High School in 1935, and was captain of the baseball team there. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. He served as a staff sergeant with the 66th Ordinance Co. following General Patton through North Africa, Italy, and France. Bud retired from E.I. DuPont in Gibbstown as a Supervisor after 39 years there. Bud was a member of Kemble Memorial United Methodist Church in Woodbury. He was the oldest living member of Friendship Fire Company. He belonged to American Legion Post #133 of Woodbury, the Artisans Club, and the Odd Fellows of Richwood. Masonically, he was a member of Florence Lodge #87 F. &A.M. of Woodbury, the Excelsior Consistory of Collingswood, and the Crescent Temple(Shriners) of Trenton. He served as the chief potentate's aide at Crescent Temple. He was a member and past president of the Gloucester County Shrine Club. He was a longtime track official, and one of the originators of the Woodbury Relays. Bud was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy L. (nee Kilpatrick) Ballinger . He is survived by two sons, and a daughter, also by two grandsons. He was also pre-deceased by his brother Howard B. Ballinger Sr., and two sisters, Elizabeth Ballinger and Mary Ott.
